Your Money. Your Khata. One Simple App.
Last Updated: 31 October 2026
MoneyKhata brings the trusted Indian tradition of the bahi-khata — the personal ledger book — to your phone. It is a simple, private personal finance and digital khata app for everyone who gives or takes money and wants to keep a clear record of it.
MoneyKhata is developed by Dolly Kumari in India. Your data belongs to you: the app is local-first, which means your financial records live on your own device by default — not on someone else's server. Nothing is shared with anyone unless you choose a feature that needs it, and every such feature is optional and can be turned off anytime.
Add people, record "You Gave" and "You Got", and always see exactly how much you will get back or give. Set the purpose of a payment, collect via UPI, and set payment reminders.
Record day-to-day spending and earnings with categories, payment modes (UPI, cash, card and more), notes and a built-in calculator keypad.
Set a monthly cap per category and an overall cap, and see exactly where you stand.
Rent, EMI, subscriptions: MoneyKhata shows you each due when it arrives and posts it only when YOU say Add — never automatically.
Payment reminders with notification actions; reminder notifications never show amounts or names on the lock screen.
Monthly trends, category breakdowns and drill-downs to see where your money goes.
Create a backup file that is strongly encrypted (AES-GCM) before it ever leaves your phone. Even we cannot open it.
Protect MoneyKhata with a PIN or biometric lock.
Sign in with Google (or Apple on iOS) and your ledger follows you across your devices. Guests never sync a single byte.
Ask questions about your own records, like "which month did I spend the most?". Off until you explicitly enable it.
Available in English, Hindi and Maithili.
MoneyKhata is available for Android and iOS.
Your financial data never leaves your device by default. MoneyKhata shows no financial ads, runs no financial analytics, and never sells your data.
Your money information is personal, and we believe you should always remain in control of it.
